Dr Susan Leahy is Co Director of the Centre for Crime, Justice and Victim Studies.
She holds BCL and LLM degrees from University College Cork. She completed a PhD in University College Cork which was funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences. This thesis examined the rules relating to consent in Irish sexual offences legislation and was entitled ‘The Rules and Realities of Consent in Irish Sexual Offences Law: Perspectives on Reform’. On completion of her PhD studies, Susan joined the law faculty in University of Limerick as a Lecturer in Law. Her primary research interests are in the area of sexual offences and criminal law and procedure generally, as well as feminist legal theory and family law. She has published articles in a variety of Irish and international journals including the Common Law World Review, the International Journal of Evidence and Proof, the Journal of Criminal Law and the Irish Journal of Family Law.
